Associate VP

         HGA Architects and Engineers has hired Alex Thorpe as associate vice president in their Los Angeles, California, office.  He will oversee client relations, marketing, and strategic development of the growing Corporate, Arts, and Community Practice Groups serving the southern California market.

         “HGA has an amazing team that is incredibly client-focused and passionate, with the energy and aspiration needed to create and deliver very high-quality design,” Thorpe said.  “I am naturally delighted to join HGA and take up this exciting position in the Los Angeles office.” 

         Thorpe has more than 15 years of professional experience in the global occupier and real estate developer markets across the United Kingdom, North America, Europe, and the Middle East.  His expertise includes client relationship management, strategic marketing, communications, public relations, and business development.

         Before joining HGA, Thorpe was operations board member and client development director with TP Bennett LLP, a United Kingdom architectural practice.  He directed all marketing, business development, and proposal management practice functions; led and developed much of the international affiliate network engagement; and spearheaded all new business activity in the corporate occupier markets.

         Previously, he was business development and marketing manager with Tilney Shane, a boutique interior design agency in London, England, and co-founder of South Square Ltd, an architectural lighting consultancy in London.

         He additionally has held leadership roles in professional associations.  He is a former chairman of Young Entrepreneurs in Property and was instrumental in founding the Manchester, United Kingdom, and Dubai, United Arab Emirates, branches.  Thorpe has a Bachelor of Business Degree from the Southampton Institute University.
