National Coatings Corporation, a manufacturer and supplier of durable, energy-efficient, elastomeric roof and wall coatings for the building envelope, has announced that 16 of its roof coating products meet stringent standards related to air quality and low VOC requirements set by the South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD).
The SCAQMD is the air pollution agency responsible for regulating air pollution in the South Coast Air Basin, in Southern California. The agency creates, adopts, and implements the Air Quality Management Plan, a regional blueprint for achieving air quality standards and healthful air, to bring the area into compliance with the clean air standards established by national and state governmental legislation.
Rule 1113 of the SCAQMD Rule Book limits the volatile organic content (VOC) of architectural coatings as they constitute the majority of area source emissions in the South Coast Air Basin. Low-VOC refers to coatings that meet the regulatory limits and super-compliant refers to coatings that are well below the regulatory limits. While National Coatings offers several low-VOC coatings, the company is most excited to announce its commitment to product stewardship by revealing 16 super-compliant coatings with VOC levels below ten grams per liter.
National Coatings has worked very hard over the years to limit the VOC levels in its coatings to not only comply with local standards but to greatly exceed the requirements. Its 16 super-compliant coatings include base and top roof coatings, as well as a wall coating.
