HGA is pleased to welcome Deepa K. Balgi, RA, as associate vice president and principal in the science and technology market group in San Francisco, California. She will focus on the Northern California market while collaborating across firm-wide offices and practice groups in healthcare, higher education, public, and corporate.
“HGA continues to build its national expertise designing science and technology spaces that drive innovation and collaboration,” said Chris Martin, science and technology market sector leader. “Balgi has an extensive background working with clients to reimagine the intersection of interdisciplinary research and the technical workspaces that support that research.” Balgi has more than 25 years’ experience as a planner, designer, manager, programmer, and team leader.
She has designed research and laboratory projects for such leading clients as the University of California San Francisco, Stanford University, California Department of General Services, National University of Singapore, Northwestern University, University of Pennsylvania Health System, Texas A&M University, Pfizer, Merck, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, and the United States Department of Veterans Affairs.

Before HGA, she led planning and design of education, research, and laboratory projects at leading architecture firms in the San Francisco Bay Area. Balgi has a Master of Architecture Degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo, and a Bachelor of Architecture Degree from National Institute of Technology in Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu, India.
