Board

The National Fenestration Rating Council (NFRC) is pleased to announce two new members of the NFRC Board of Directors.  They are Julian Wang, from Pennsylvania State University, and David McDonald from Marvin®.  Wang assumes a general interest seat and McDonald a residential manufacturer seat.

Wang is an associate professor in Department of Architectural Engineering and an affiliate faculty member within the Department of Architecture and the Materials Research Institute at Penn State.  He has previously worked at the University of Cincinnati, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, and Tsinghua University.  Wang’s research focuses on interdisciplinary applications of building physics, especially photometry and radiometry, in sustainable, healthy, and interactive building environments by leveraging advanced data sensing and processing techniques and computational design methods.

McDonald is a code and regulatory affairs specialist with Marvin and is based in Warroad, Minnesota, where he has an advocacy role within industry trade associations, test standard development organizations, the ICC codes, and he participates in numerous other activities/projects that assist customers.  He graduated from the University of North Dakota with a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice Studies.

McDonald spent time working for the City of Ontario, California, as a senior code enforcement officer and in Greenbush, Minnesota, for Central Boiler, Inc., in environmental relations prior to joining Marvin in 2014.  He has been an active NFRC member since 2014, attending every NFRC meeting and serving on various task forces and committees.

The expertise and experience these new directors will bring to the Board of Directors will help to further the mission of NFRC and strengthen its presence in the industry and beyond.
