AE Design, Denver, Colorado, an award-winning design firm, in collaboration with Piper Electric Co., Inc., Arvada, Colorado, and The Opus Group®, Denver, have celebrated the completion of 19Nineteen Mile High, a high-end, luxury 277-unit multifamily apartment building located in the Jefferson Park neighborhood of Denver. AE Design served as the integrated lighting and electrical systems partner for the electrical engineering design of the entire 362,327-sq.ft. property, working in tandem with Piper Electric to deliver sophisticated, innovative designs to complement the upscale architectural vision of the apartment complex. The project broke ground in April 2020 and construction was completed in May 2022.
“Thanks to the collaborative infrastructure we’ve built within our firm and the foresight into the challenges we would need to navigate due to the immediate and continued impacts of the pandemic, we were able to adjust quickly, remain active on this project from day one and produce a high-quality project that these end users will appreciate and enjoy,” said Eric Nielsen, director of operations at AE Design. “This new residential community will soon become woven into the fabric of the up-and-coming Jefferson Park neighborhood, and we’re looking forward to seeing this project become a figure on the Denver skyline.”
Designed, developed, and constructed by The Opus Group, the residential building in the vibrant and growing Jefferson Park community in Denver is well-positioned to capture the continued demand for housing and modern living in the city. The building is intentionally designed to accommodate health-conscious young professionals and families in the area, featuring high-end apartment units and premier amenities such as a clubroom with view of the mountains, downtown Denver and Empower Field at Mile High, outdoor kitchen and grilling area, a lap pool and hot tub, a two-story fitness center, a golf simulator and game room, work-from-home stations, bicycle storage, and a station for ski tuning and ski/board waxing.
Given the building’s high-visibility and presence, AE Design developed its project plans with the existing adjacent sites in mind and designed around the same site area lighting to ensure it felt intentional. At 19Nineteen, AE Design created a high-level, refined living environment through innovative lighting and electrical design. The firm pursued a strategic, human-centered design for the property to ensure the spaces were functional, yet aesthetic and mirrored the feel of the entire interior of the building and surrounding exterior property.
Along with a color-changing band around the top of the building to elicit a playful personality for the building, the porte-cochere cove and column zig-zag detail also change in color to celebrate seasons, games, events, and more local happenings. As the project’s exterior and interior light fixtures were chosen with sustainability top of mind, the building is LEED® certified and offers EV charging in the parking garage. In addition to sustainable practices, luxury was at the forefront of the design intent. All decorative lighting elements were carefully selected and coordinated with Opus to ensure they worked with the finishes, and AE Design confirmed with Piper Electric on the installation to ensure it appeared seamless for the high-end and timeless aesthetic.
“Between our firms’ shared values of providing quality, top-of-the-line service and the emphasis we place on collaboration, technical expertise, innovation, and creativity, partnering with AE Design was a natural fit for this project, which required a forward-thinking, complex approach to electrical design,” said Jeff Santos, pre-construction manager at Piper Electric. “We take great pride in our work and projects like 19Nineteen motivate our team to continue learning and expanding to keep pace with the industry and remain one of Denver’s premier electrical contractors.”
